In the area of health, the District has one Hospital and 18 Health Centers with 4 Physicians and 140 nurses, which
makes the overage clear that there are 72,863 inhabitants for 1 Doctor and 2,082 for 1 Nurse. These last figures
demonstrate how Nyagatre District has already met the requirements by WHO which suggest 5,000 inhabitants/a
Nurse but remains far from fulfilling the requirements with regard to the number of inhabitants for a Doctor ( 10,000
Inhabitants/ a Doctor).
In addition to that issue, there is a problem of insufficient and incomplete health
infrastructures as well as insufficient medical equipments.
